We will meet for meditation today February 21st from 6 – 7:30 pm in the Walker Room at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington Normal. Arrive early to get settled. It should be noted that at times, we share the space at UUBN with somewhat noisy and distracting groups and we just fold that distraction into our practice. They will try to be respectful of our space as well.
Someone will choose the reading from Joseph Goldstein’s book called, Insight Meditation. We will read a chapter a week during our session. We also welcome other Buddhist writings or videos or dharma talks on occasion.
All welcome, participation in the discussion optional. We will follow our usual meditation practice (20 minutes sitting, 20 minutes optional walking, 20 minutes sitting followed by the reading and discussion for the last 30 minutes).
Please join the Bloomington Normal Meditation group on March 5 at 5:30 p.m. for movie night and pot luck in the Fell Room. We will be showing the award winning documentary “Monk with a Camera.” All are welcome. Let us know by Feb 29th if you need childcare by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
“Monk with a Camera” is “..an engrossing documentary about a privileged young American who leaves fashion photography to become a Buddhist monk in India, then returns to photography to provide some crucial help to his monastery.”
